Waters was born in 1903 in China. He was educated here in the U.S. at The Art Institute of Chicago, and Harvard University. His work is in the collections of the Library of Congress and the New York Public Library, among others.

Menihan was born 1908 in Rochester, New York. Educated in business, Menihan took up Art, and was largely self taught. He was well known for his portraits and landscapes and taught painting and drawing at the University of Rochester. In 1948, He was elected an Associate of the National Academy and won many prizes locally for his work. He is represented in many collections, including the Library of congress.
