Gillian Pederson-Krag, "Landscape"

Gillian writes..."This etching had sixteen states before it was finished, the final edition was printed at Hobart William & Smith College on their etching press. I used BFK Rives paper and added Charbonnel Black ink with some prussian blue, and indian red oil paint. I added the paint to the ink to assist the middle tones, and broaden the range of greys in the image."

Gillian Pederson-Krag is a graduate of R.I.S.D. with a BFA, and she earned her master's degree at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Gillian is represented by the Hackett-Freedman Gallery of San Francisco. Her most recent exhibition took place in the winter of 2001, on the campus of Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH.

Catherine Kernan "Sea Cleft #2"

Kernan writes: " The print is an intaglio from four copper plates.  The plate making techniques I used were spit bite aquatint and sugar lift aquatint.  The image for Sea Cleft #2 came from a field sketch done along the rocky coast in the west of Ireland.  It is a leap of imagination set off by close examination of the seaweed and cracks in the rocks."

Catherine Kernan is a painter and printmaker. She is co-owner and founder of the Mixit Print studios, a professional open rental studio in Somerville, Massachusetts.  at various times Catherine has taught at the School o the Museum of Fine Arts, The Rhode Island School of Design, Wellesley College, Pine Manor College, the Massachusetts College of Art and the Art institute of Boston.
